Good News
There has been some recent developments in this challenge to get to Seattle. My husband has been offered a job that could take us out there. It's all still in the works but it's very exciting. We have started making plans and selling stuff to raise money and also so we take less stuff with us. If things go well, we will be pulling into Washington right before Christmas!
For me, I have continued to look for work but hope it will easier to land a job when we actually get there. I have been looking at a new clothes company that is looking for someone to design labels, tags, and the like for the line. It sounds like a great job because I have experience in both areas: advertising and fashion.
We have also began the great search for an affordable apartment. I think this will be the next big challenge. The area is unfamiliar and we don't know what's close to what. Hopefully my friend that lives just north of Seattle will be able to help us find something that suits us and makes us feel safe. I can't wait!!!

The Alter Ego
Ok, I think I am figuring some things out. A friend guided me towards flickr.com to host pictures that I can add to this blog so that my work can get on the internet in some form until my website is up. A small victory but I'll take it. Consider this a sneek preview of my portfolio and stay posted for the rest of it to make its debut.
ps. A little about this work: a poster designed for a tailor shop concept geared towards the college/young professional.

A new niece, a broken cat.
So, I went to Rapid City, SD for the weekend and came back to a cat with a fractured jaw and toe, a dead fish, and an eaten plant. It was a little sad to tell the truth.
Apparently my cat, Bailey, decided to lay in the open window of our apartment and we can only assume that he knocked the prop out and the window closed on him, trapping his paw and head. He had moved the couch across the room, knocked over the lamp, and put some pretty deep gouges in the windowsill with his back feet. He came to work with me the next day and the vets checked him out and took some x-rays. They established that he had a fractured jaw and toe. Bailey has a splint on his right front leg and walks like a pirate now. His jaw is a yet to be determined on how it will be fixed. Hopefully I'll have an update by next Monday. In the meantime he is enjoying lots of tlc and pain meds. Later the same night as Bailey's incident, the snail decided to die and take my goldfish, Jaws, with it. That wasn't pretty. Lastly a cat we were cat-sitting at the same time thought it would dismantle one of my plants all over the rug.
Ok, now for the good news. On Tuesday my sister had her baby! 6 lb baby girl Kamrynn Leigh. She has got to be one of the cutest babies in the world!! Maybe I can get her picture uploaded soon. I went home to see her and had a good time holding her while she slept. It amazes me how tiny she is. All my sister's kids were teeny tiny babies.
That covers my past week of excitement, maybe now I'll move on to job hunting and such. Not much has progressed. Still looking around. Haven't gotten anywhere on the website because I really have no idea what I am doing. Trying to seek help but help lives an hour and a half away so it's hard to meet up. I have lots of ideas floating around in my head; I need to get them down on paper and worked out so I can add them to my portfolio. One idea is planning out a National Specialty. You probably don't know what I am talking about unless you show dogs. A National is when dogs of the same breed, in this case samoyeds, from all over the nation come to one week-long show. It is a major event in the dog world and I am sure a great feat to pull off. I want to make a mock-national and who knows, maybe it'll actually happen in the future. That would be cool.
That is all for now. Need to work on other little errands on my list. I want to make it to WA!! Hopefully I'll be a little closer by my next blog.

Get this thing rolling
This is the beginning of me getting onto the internet. I figured a blog would be a good tool to use to track my progress or at least keep me motivated to get my butt to Seattle, WA. Hopefully soon, this blog will be dropped into my website. I've never made an active website, heck I haven't made a website other than designing it out in inDesign. Dreamweaver boggles my mind, but conquer it, I will. I hope everyone will bear with me as I stumble around trying to get coding and what-not down. I have a friend who volunteered to aid me but I would also welcome any other advice from readers, if there are any out there.
I should maybe explain why I want to get to WA. I've lived in the Midwest all my life, I graduated from college in Dec 2006 with a Bachleor's degree in advertising, and I work at a vet clinic taking dogs out to potty all day. Can you see where I am going with this? My husband and I visited Seattle on our honeymoon(just married in June) and we both fell in love with the city. We decided there were opportunities available on the west coast not available in NE. Plus one of my best friends was station in Everett with the Navy, so we will know at least one person.
This is a chance for us to adventure out on our own and also for us to get our stuff together and find real jobs! I am anxious to go but have roadblocks to overcome. First one: save up money for the move. Second one: find an agency willing to take a chance on a girl with big ideas. Hopefully this blog can help make it happen.
Stay tuned to see what happens.
